MALALA YOUSAFZAI, THE YOUNGEST NOBLE PEACE PRIZE WINNER by Edidiong Peters

Francis Wayland said " it is by what we ourselves have done, and not by what others have done for us, that we shall be remembered in after ages ". In line with the words of Francis Wayland, a 17 year old miss Malala Yousafzai a young Pakistan is being remembered, not after ages but now that she is still alive. History is no doubt made in Pakistan and the world at large as the young Miss Yousafzai won the noble peace prize. She is now the youngest winner of this prize and the first from Pakistan. She has decided to tread the paths where illustrious people like Rev.Martin Luther king Jr, Nelson Mandela, Albert Schweitzer, Aug Sung Suu have tread.

Despite many condemnations of western education by many Jihadist group, the young Malala, a strict Moslem started campaigning at the age of 11 against the prohibition of western education for children especially the girl child. During one of her campaigns in Pakistan, Malala was shot on the head by a Taliban who said this before shooting "Who is Malala". After she was shot, she relocated to England leaving her home country Pakistan.
" I suppose the the man who shot her was not aware that he is preparing her for a great success in the future " said a Pakistan. Though Malala was shot, her ambition, dreams and aspirations was not shot down. Ever since she was shot, Malala could no longer visit her home town again because of the threat to her life. Miss Malala, a great humanitarian has lived her life seeking and speaking for the promotion and protection of the girl child. Miss Malala effects has also reached Nigeria as she spent her summer vacation flying to Nigeria to speak for the release of the kidnapped Chibok girls.Miss Malala has also visited President Barack Obama, many people found this awe inspiring as they wondered how a young girl of that age could talk boldly to the U.S President about some drone policy enacts in America, She criticized how the American government reacted towards the crisis in her home country. She said and i quote " Instead of sending soldiers, send us books. Instead of sending weapons send us pens".

The young Noble Peace prize winner, Miss Malala is not in favour of the way women are regarded in her home country, and she has demonstrated great critics against the Taliban and the Pakistan culture in which women are disregarded and are not allowed to enjoy the same rights as their male counterpart. She is a model and a representative of modern Islamic religion, which will feature the promotion of gender equality no matter the religious, ethnic, social and economic background. Questions may float in people's mind, such questions may be, with all this humanitarian works, how does she cope with her educational activities? The answer is not far fetched. In a phone interview, the Noble peace prize winner revealed that she does not own a mobile phone or post in any of the social networks because she does not want anything to distract her from her academic work.

Miss Malala Yousafzai has won the Nobel Peace prize for the year 2014 with Mr Kailash as a co-winner. Mr Kailash is a child's right activist who is fighting slavery in India. His organization is credited with the freeing of about 70,000 slaves in India. Miss Malala won the prize with this 60 year old man.

In her acceptance speech, her message for the children is that they should stand up for their rights, and not to wait for other people to make them stand, but rather stand up for themselves and use their voice as a tool to push for the full implementation of child rights. Her message for the people is a message of love, she said that we should all consider each other as human beings, we should learn to respect and show love to one another. After Malala finished addressing the crowd with English, she spoke Pakistan and the Taliban language to pass the message across. Malala also spoke on her desire to help the children get education, get skills and get their rights. She said that the award is only the beginning of her endeavors in life. Malala said that she never dreamt of becoming a politician, but now, like the first female Prime minister in Pakistan(Benazir Bhutto), she wants to be a politician to make sure girls get education.
